No permita que el fraude marque esta temporada de fútbol

A medida que aumenta la emoción por la temporada de fútbol, los estafadores también se están preparando. From local college rivalries to professional games, scammers often target eager fans looking to secure tickets and exclusive game-day experiences.

One of the most common schemes is the Fake Ticket and Phantom Luxury Package Scam. Criminals use social media, online marketplaces, message boards, and lookalike websites to advertise tickets or premium packages that either do not exist or are not valid.

How it works: Scammers create a sense of urgency by claiming tickets for sold-out games are available only for a limited time. They often request payment through peer-to-peer payment apps, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency, making it difficult or impossible to recover funds if the transaction is fraudulent.

A growing threat: As more venues adopt digital ticketing, scammers have become increasingly sophisticated. Some sell screenshots of mobile tickets that cannot be used for entry, while others create convincing copies of legitimate ticket-selling websites.

Before purchasing tickets, verify the seller, use reputable ticket marketplaces, and avoid payment methods that offer little or no fraud protection. A few extra minutes of caution can help ensure your game-day experience is memorable for all the right reasons.
