VeraBank Announces Zach Kuehner as New Commercial Banker in Austin Downtown
Austin, TX - VeraBank is pleased to announce that Zach Kuehner, who has been part of the VeraBank team since June 2023, has transitioned into the role of Commercial Banker at the Austin Downtown office. Zach brings a strong foundation in commercial credit, portfolio management, and relationship-focused service to his new position.
Zach began his career after earning a Bachelor of Science in Economic Sciences from Washington State University in 2018. He first entered the financial industry through wealth management, overseeing commercial real estate and specialty assets held in trust accounts. This early exposure to complex real estate portfolios sparked his interest in commercial banking and laid the groundwork for his analytical approach to client service.
He later moved into a commercial credit analyst role, underwriting commercial real estate and C&I transactions. For the past two years, Zach has served as a Portfolio Manager at VeraBank in Austin, supporting and growing commercial banking relationships. These combined experiences have shaped his perspective on commercial banking and strengthened his commitment to building strong, long-term client partnerships.
In his new role as Commercial Banker, Zach will be responsible for managing and expanding a portfolio of commercial banking relationships. His focus areas include supporting clients with financing needs, maintaining strong credit quality, and helping businesses navigate opportunities and challenges as they grow. He will also collaborate closely with internal partners to underwrite new loans, monitor existing relationships, and maintain a proactive approach to portfolio management.
Zach was drawn to VeraBank because of its strong community values, relationship- focused culture, and commitment to doing what is right for customers. "This role stood out because it allows me to build long-term relationships, support business growth, and be part of a team that truly cares about the communities we serve," Zach said.
He is motivated by the impact his work has on local businesses and the people behind them. "Knowing that I'm helping clients navigate challenges, find the right financial solutions, and feel confident in their direction is what drives me," he said. "Building strong relationships and seeing clients succeed keeps me energized every day."
"We are proud to welcome Zach into this new role," said Donna Day, Executive Vice President and Regional President for Travis County at VeraBank. "His analytical expertise, commitment to relationship-driven service, and deep understanding of our clients' needs make him an exceptional fit for our Austin Downtown office. Zach's dedication to supporting local businesses reflects the values that define VeraBank."
Outside of work, Zach enjoys spending time with friends and family, golfing, and cheering on the Washington State Cougars. He is also actively involved in the Young Men's Business League of Austin, where he supports the Austin Sunshine Camps.
